"Dare Dare! Quick analysis of a work of art :

"I found this little blackbird on the road when she had only a few feathers. She had fallen out of her nest and I knew she wouldn't spend the night with the neighbor's cat around. I raised her for two and a half months, the time she became a beautiful bird, autonomous and full of life.
To feed her, I had a considerable stock of worms in the compost. At the beginning, she claimed her food every half hour from sunrise to sunset. She ingested incredible quantities of food. Then, as she grew, the peckings became more spaced but more consequent. Seeing her take flight for the first time was a real satisfaction. We had to teach her to look for her food alone. What she did very quickly by instinct. Under the same roof, Tchuck my dog, Bounty my cat and La Pioutte lived together without any problem. What memories and what an unforgettable experience.
While doing research, I learned that the little blackbirds, as they grow up, are very quickly cramped in the nest. They leave it at the age when I found this chick. The young, barely able to move on legs that do not support them yet, must find a hiding place to escape from predators. The parents take turns to feed them. It is not necessary to collect the chicks fallen from the nest, only to let nature and natural selection do its work.
This was not the first time I had raised a chick that had fallen out of the nest. Maya the magpie had shared my life for almost three months. Many years later, I also raised Pilou, another little blackbird that had escaped from the clutches of the neighbor's cat". Laurence Saunois
