It is in the town of Figeac, in the Midi-Pyrénées region of southern France, that the artist lives and works on her water lily paintings. The city, with its medieval streets, wood-paneled houses, and buildings from the Middle Ages, has preserved its Old-World charm while smartly blending it with modernity. The Musée Champollion, les écritures du Monde, for example, is devoted to the origins of the written word in all its diversity, and rightly so, as its namesake, Jean-François Champollion, deciphered Egyptian hieroglyphs and was a founding figure in the field of Egyptology.
